But that's just me personally, cuz I have no problem smelling like other types of fruits haha. Beautiful fragrance that is borderline feminine to me. Very similar to Dior Homme Intense or i would say more designer version of DHI or DHP. Smells like a 90s supermodel's Chanel bag that's been thrown around for the better part of a decade, causing the high-end makeup inside to break, smearing hot red lipstick, babypowder and inky mascara everywhere. I bought because it is discontinued and very hard to find, i've never tested it before, i only have tested the original edt that i didn't liked it at all. I never thought Id write a review but I was compelled to do so. The way to tell if there's been a reformulation for the new L'Oreal version of VUI is to check the FIL code on the box. There is exactly the same juice like this, and it is from the house of armaf. This was a blind buy based on all the reviews likening VUI to my beloved DHI. ARMAF ODYSSEY (black packaging).same performance, long lasting, affordable price.check it reviews from youtube coz it is new release from armaf and it is not listed here in fragrantica yet. I personally love this perfume, it's very rich and elegant, definitely a nightclubbing perfume or for an informal special occasion. This is sexy. as soon as the first spray titillates your skin. So far while wearing Uomo Intense for the first time, I have received 3 compliments however, I did have to overspray to the max because the longevity is really poor with this one. This could definitely be a signature scent, something you wear to work or date nights. Definitely not for casual wear or school/office. Great for colder weather and night time wear. ok first off I could do with the communities help. Just bought a 10ml sample and grabbing the largest bottle I can find immediately!! People around me seem to like it. MI got a sample yesterday. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. Absolutely perfect concoction that is different enough from GG EDP to warrant a purchase. Maybe the Puig is a bit darker at first, but after a while they both get that vanilla base. I will never EVER get tired of this fragrance. I have two bottles 2016 and 2018 they smell the same. But dont worry Valentino uomo intense and dior homme parfum are not discontinued. I completely agree with the reviewer below me. I picked the wrong one. Prada LHomme is. Prada L'homme smells better but way weaker in terms of strength. The sweet scent wave was tolerable in its initial stages with one million and versace eros but now everything is being sweetened far too much and for no other reason than to appeal to the masses, which is fucking disappointing. VUI probably wont hit the mark. It gives a slight masculine edge to the fragrance. But, and this isn't big deal, but I think they removed the cacao that I remember. Be prepared, when you wear it, you will want to sniff yourself on occasion to get this scent well into your olfactory. Leather, iris, vanilla, and then dries down to be soft and powdery, with that sweetness in the background. A masculine yet sweet, and potent yet smooth, unique yet mass appealing. If anyone has info on where to find find early batches, or experiences with the new batches, I'd appreciate it. So finally I bought this yesterday. Why? Maybe one of the best male perfumes ever created. So they added nutmeg and juniper berry and took away the tonka bean and the leather. Looking at the notes I thought Id love this and dont get me wrong I do like it however it isnt a standout for me personally. My favourite Iris based fragrance so far that has good longevity. Perhaps it's this association that keeps me from viewing it as a scent to be worn on someone as a fragrance. VUOI smells so sophisticated, without it being too dark, it adds the orange on to the opening, before transforming you into the knight in shining armour. When i first received this blind buy, it was 80 degrees out and it was all bad for me. Am I the only one that gets STRONG cinnamon roll smell from this after 1-2 hours?? It smells like the original, but with the added iris and sweetness turned up. It smells similar to the original Valentino Uomo, so it has the same DNA but in this Version the leather is dominant. However, the notes listed are not the same anymore. Love it and until I die, this will be in my collection! And as many have stated they are quite similar. Both present themselves more as it enters the mid. While I do not find Valentino Uomo EDT similar to Dior Homme, I do see huge similarity between Valentino Uomo Intense and Dior Homme Intense. Iris, Vanilla, Leather, done right. The new edition of the fragrance Valentino Uomo from 2014, Valentino Uomo Intense, comes out in the spring of 2016, announced as the more intense, charismatic and masculine version. Well, Valention Uomo Intense is a fragrance that I bought after already owning Dior Homme Intense. I am addicted to this fragrance!!! This is really nice! This wouldn't be something that I would typically purchase but I am trying to branch out and make my collection a little more varied. Powderly iris note is very strong. It opens up promising with iris, leather, chocolate and some sweetness but after an hour or so the pear and vanilla ice cream kinda vanilla, take over. I adore it, but DHI simply does not perform on my skin. Literally in the middle of writing this my grocery delivery arrived. When I wear it, I feel on top of the world. Best iris fragrance I've ever smelled. Great investment in my opinion. One of the most beautiful openings to any fragrance ever. A shame that Valentino doesnt performs any better. Very classy Iris leathery fragrance for colder weather. It is sexy. A bit similar to the Dior Homme line but ultimately a bit more wearable than DHI and DHP. Have a fresh bottle made in France under L'Oral. I think Gentlemen by Givenchy is a much better comparison.). Not everyone is a fan of this DNA however but thats the be expected with all the leather iris scents. Intense has the masculine kick that regular Uomo is missing. their known for destroying fragrances with reformulations. The strange thing is that women really like it but I cant wear something that I dont like :/ . Roasted marshmallow in a biker jacket nuff said. Id say it is definitely more for night time or more fall/winter occasions, and the longevity is wonderful I was able to smell it even after a shower. One of the few fragrances which I immediately had to purchase after sampling it! Given you bought it recently. I don't know why people have urge to mindlessly keep repeating this false information! The leather is the most prominent note, aromatic, bold, dark, but not animalic or offensive, but with that combustible or gasoline vibe found in fragrances that feature strong leathery accords, yet, it comes across as refined and elegant. I really wanted to like this one but I never could. Has anyone tried the new style bottle (2021 release)?? This was made in France, batch code 38W100B. It is a compliment getter. Ive decided to give my husband the original Uomo and keep this one for myself Theres something about Valentino and strong, enduring drydowns. For use in winter and cold nights. valentino intense is my next one !! I was able to score a 3.4 for under $80 recently, and I am really glad I was able to. Are the new batches worth looking into? Had to wash it down after that so I can't speak about performance or the smell after a few hours. On paper strip I think the Puig one is heavier on the vanilla and leather, while in the first reformulation the citrus notes and the iris play along longer. pair it all with your black (shiny) YSL Chelsea boots. If you like/love iris this is your jam! Its classy and sexy. Unmistakable Valentino, only better blended to leave an extremely refined aromatic woody-leathery scent. I can see this making the all time top 30 list of evening, night, date and casual mens fragrances as a classic, for designer scents. I saw this at a local department store in the old packaging (Batch code 80891) and I actually hesitated on getting this. This is class. I feel like this is straight down the middle--the opening has a subtle masculine tinge but after that it's a smooth and pretty sweet vanilla-tonka-iris. The leather is rather simple and standard, nothing challenging. The mandarin orange and leather note is wholly different from the iris vanilla, vetiver, woody and cacao concoction of Dior Homme Intense. Now I get some vanilla; it's not overly sweet, though. The longevity is about 7 hours with 4 good hours of projection. Dior Homme original is not the Iris king. Uomo Intense definitely smells upscale, sophisticated, cosy and leans unisex to me. Surprised by the comments on performance on this one, I had the one by puig and I now have the l'oreal version and both smell identical in my opinion, the performance is beast mode, it nearly chokes me it's that strong, pulls compliments wherever I go, and out performs alot of niche fragrances I have, for the price of this it's defo worth having a bottle in your collection. It was definitely worth buying this. This is a lovely iris fragrance, but it does it's on thing. Its good though ,so cant complain. If you spray it more it will stick around. I am I love with this scent. Also, if the box has the studs, it's the newest version. I did some research and it seems it is pre-2016. Love this fragrance. I find it to be pretty inoffensive and pleasing. A bit too flowery for my liking. They must have bought old stock from somewhere. More masculine and potent than DHI. Wish this came in a parfum version like the Dior Homme line got ;) this sits joint second with Dior Homme Eau and behind Parfum. A great price, great scent, this should do nicely in sales to replace the utterly stupid decision of Dior to discontinue it's Dior Homme Parfum. Also on my skin projection the first 4 hours is enormous. I came to valentino because I haven't found a niche violet-iris combo yet and this is a winner. The only problem I see with this is that I live in Miami.this is not going to be something that I can wear often. If I smelled this on my wife or any women for that matter, my t-levels would shoot through the roof, no pun intended. WOW! The iris makes the fragrance mild powdery. Very well blended. Untrained nose? It is in my opinion the best release of 2016. Only tested on paper but it felt like a strong fragrance. First time seeing this in a store in 2 years aaaand yeah I'm a bit disappointed. If you can get a PUIG batch I highly recommend, haven't tried l'oreal so I can't speak for that. Its not a clone of any DH, it has a unique character. and thats a fact. I have been stopped more times wearing this than anything else. HmI blind bought this one but I actually didn't like it at all. Luxurious without being obnoxious. I do understand the comparisons to Dior Homme, but this hardly a Dior Homme clone. If this would've been a Dior, most likeley woul be in the Private collection sold for 200+. But to be honest, it doesnt perform so good. The orange seems to mainly be in the background on me. I agree with everything in the review by jae (Jan/8/2021) about the similarities and differences! The sample that I got has a beautiful note (I guess it is mandarin) that made me like it more than DHI, but the new bottle that I bought smells almost the same as DHI. It is quickly becoming my cold weather signature scent. This is very much a grown-up, finely crafted fragrance that exudes the warmth and enveloping richness redolent of a lot of todays Valentino fragrances (also see Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu for a gorgeous take on sandalwood. ignore those telling you how and when to wear this gem. It smells like smooth, clean, suede with a hint of iris and vanilla. Performs just shy of Beast mode on me. The rich Iris and leather scents come thru nicely. Was hard to find for a while. Ive reviewed this before but wanted to add a thought. I detect some tonka but vanilla and somehow cinnamon are crazy rn. Soft elegant powdery iris vanilla great longevity. Valentino Uomo is conceived as a young Italian heir, whose timeless elegance comes from his legacy. Love at first sniff! It is masculine. edp toilette ysl vaporisateur parfumdo bloomingdale avis beaute bloomingdales I'm kind of known for not enjoying vanilla in my scents guys but in here its perfect. Very nicely done! Still available on Valentino's own website and Nordstrom and Bloomingdales' websites. I'm in Sephora right now, testing this scent. Uomo Intense has NOT been discontinued and I don't know why half of FragComm keeps insisting that it has been. Maybe not pleasent because of the iris, that it feels powdery and combined with the leather that makes it a more dense and dark scent, not my favourite when smelled it by first time but after some time I started to like it more. I bought a sample in 2019 from eBay which I absolutely loved. At first sniff, the opening seems nearly identical! i smell it at drug store smells amazing but for colder days !! I admit: I only bought this because it was a cheaper alternative to DHI in my country. Its def insanely close to dior Homme intense. Wow. It was a women delivery person and she geeked out over how good I smelled. I am gonna surrender myself and substitute for this one! Very unique and, for me, the better value buy compared to the Dior. This is what I've been looking for! Beautiful combination of iris, leather, vanilla, and tonka. I purchased a bottle of this a few years back as I really enjoyed its powdery, vanillic sweetness. The new one has a dirty mechanic oil smell towards the end at the dry down compared to the pre-formulation which stays sweet and iris smelling. Just fantastic. As soon as I sprayed it on the back of my hand and smelled, I went over to my cologne cabinet and whipped out the ol 75ml Dior Homme Parfum to spray on my other hand. deodorant ysl eau nordicfeel The opening to dry down transition is relatively linear, the fragrance opens with a strong projection, bold and intense, but as it transitions, it softens to a moderate projection. Not sure why, but get something similar to Iceberg Man with this one. My husband is also a fraghead and sometimes the combination of our scents when going out can clash but these two dont and would make a great date night duo :). I like the Dior Homme line and was looking at this as an alternative. Lasts very long and has good sillage. Warm, sweet and intriguing. For those who love Dior Homme line, this is a winner. I confirm what @rnc wrote. They are so close that you don't need them both although Valentino is slightly sweeter and performs a little better than Gentleman EDP. Fragrantica Inc, United States. I like it but i don't love it! Versatile and perfectly blended. IMHO This is a Dior Homme for younger people, its alot smoother, gets more compliments. I love them both, but VUI just beats out DHI as one of my top 5 frags. Using my last bottle sparingly because I'm afraid to run out. Its stunning. I actually prefer this one on myself (Donnas rose is verrry sweet). Dropped a review of this on my Youtube "Rotten Rebel" and all I can say is that this is one fragrance that I am insanely addicted to and one that truly pulls in a lot of compliments of the sexy kind. I told myself for ages that I didn't need this since I already had DHI, which is one of my all-time favorite takes on iris. The performance is great, (7-8 hours) so its still worth buying. This smells good and also has the performance! I Just got this wonderful perfume today..and I wish I could live inside the bottle. I love iris themed smells, something about them are so attractive. It's good but been reformulated. However, with all the ongoing talk about DHI reformulation and discontinuation, and because I was able to find a bottle at less than full price, I bit the bullet and indulged in this one blind. I still see this listed on Valentino's US website, so I don't know where the hype about discontinuation comes from. love it. It reminds me of the Dior Homme line. The best iris bomb in my opinion. I read about the comparisons and decided to buy this for my husband when I found it for a good price and WOW this is beautiful! I totally get the comparisons to DHI, however, I am not that familiar with DHI to compare the two side by side, so all I can say is that the similarities are definitely present. I prefer Dior Homme Intense if I am looking for a date night iris frag in the cold fall or winter. The opening is my favourite part about this fragrance, I love how the powdery iris and sage blends with the leather and vanilla notes and gives it the perfect balance of elegant sweetness. Iris note, does give off the makeup scent explained by others. Fantastic fragrance, little bit expensive for 50ml bottle but it is high quality scent that last for very long time with good projection,,,Just for fresh days of autumn,,. This is a nice classy scent. VU is sublime, more delicate and delicious. 9.4/10. Oh yeah, it smells wonderfulthis is my first impression: initially the iris is very similar to that of DHI. I lost 50% of enjoyable smell in 2 hours. There is some pleasantness hiding in there now. The iris is prominent and powdery, very DH and DHI similar, the tonka is there but to me gets mixed with the vanilla and the two become rather indistinguishable I cannot detect the citrus or clary sage in this at all, so that doesn't seem to come through. The opening is very masculine, It has a very sharp Iris not like DH it shares the same sharpness of the Iris you'll get from Roi D'Orient from Rituals. If youre expecting a high quality and/or well composed fall/winter iris-based fragrance similar to DHI/DHP. Review is for a a sample of the new retail bottle, with studs on the neck. Season: fall and sometimes in winter too, early spring especially dull days. I have scents that are for signature date night, work, home, casual out-on-the-town, seasonal day/night, and this one is DEFINITELY going to be added as the new signature date night fragrance. Really nice. Feminine it is. Leathery vanillait smells wonderful! I liked and purchased intense over the original because I didn't like the myrtle in the blend. Longevity is great too, I will wear this on a night out and wake up smelling like VUI. The dry down is unexpectedly sweet but on a bad way, not pleasant for what I was expecting. I have also Dior Homme Parfum, and I can easily say the Iris in both is very similar but overall they are different smelling fragrances. The iris and tonka bean make the drydown really sweet but dont let you smell like a cake. So, someone I know traveled to the Netherlands and purchased 100ml of this juice for yours truly. I love the iris opening- its the perfect amount of earthy waxiness for me without becoming too powdery or dirty. VUI has a clean and expensive smelling leather base while DHI has a soft woody musk. one of my favorites, amazing iris opening. Creamy iris and sweet cacao. @ Parfumadict. Performance is fantastic and lasts for days on clothes. Ive been searching for Dior Homme Intense to sample (I love iris) bit Ive had a hard time finding it. It is such a wearable fragrance. The iris is very makeup like in the opening and you get a nice almost fizzy cherry scent- totally reminds me of Dr.Pepper even in the dry down. I've had the PUIG batch for a while now and this is a really good fragrance. After wearing it a couple of times it really grew on me and now its one of my favourite scents. VUI projection is average for an EDP. With further exploration you start to get the differences. I loved Gentleman Givenchy EDP so really what did I expect with this one? This is a statement maker for sure. I used it at a dinner event and I really enjoyed wearing it. And its not even close IMO. Soon after the initial application the leather and iris fully develop, the iris creates a mild and projecting powdery accord. Very appropriate if you are dressed up whether be a date or a formal ocasion, even for work in cool days. On skin, I don't notice much difference between the Puig version and the first reformulation (L'Oral). Further to my review below, I bought a new bottle, but it turns out its the second version of this (old bottle with no studs on neck, but with a sticker on the bottom - not the engraved bottom of the original first formulation). Didnt like it at first, opening is really heavy and in your face. They are not even close except that iris in the opening. To me this is the smell of a beautiful, classy and intelligent WOMAN. DEFINATELY buy a decant or sample before purchasing a bottle. I got extremely lucky and saw this pop up on Fragrancenet for only $64. Not for everyone. This is has less of that classically masculine, piercing, 'cologne' vibe than Dior Homme Intense, to my nose. VUI is no exception. 1h projection and gone after 4 hours on me. However, something about it prevents me from loving it. It's warm, it's rich, it has that iris but there's something fresh about it too off the top. This is straight up female 25+ and it's sexy af. But the mid and dry down are easy going and solid. I just think there's something a little bit extra that brings that fragrance up to a 10/10, this is a very strong 9/10! I was already running low on the late 2019 batch I bought, and it was a great deal also. Starts with a nice sage and slightly floral before settling into the most awesome leather and iris smell. Yes, @User123, that is the case. You should probably buy a bottle now if loreal didn't reformulate it yet .
