(JackieM) on here, posted their thoughts as well. Now, please, please, please bring back the Original Victoria!!!! Trust me, it's not like anything VS offers currently. Cloying vanilla scent and not in a good way. he's picky.I get complimented on my scent whenever I wear this . Im suprise that this one is spicy, because i cant smell the spices at all, but i just like it =). It's not bad but I think maybe a bit too much amber in it. The first bottle I had was made in 2000-2003. I have a body spray and an EDP bottle that I'm cherishing every last drop of. The difference between a lovely fragrance and an awful one is often over spraying. Reminds me of those overdressed, bedazzled old southern ladies that you hear and smell coming a mile away. Pouty face. As my friend and I walked by the water, delicate whiffs of almonds and roses wafted around me in the most magical way. I have a tiny bit left in my old bottle and it definitely didn't smell like the stuff they were selling in the storeI was disappointed. If you like scents like Samsara, Opium and Baiser du Dragon you will probably like this. Its definitely strong; long lasting and plus I got it for $20 and the body mist which was like $7 at the SAS. Nothing but roses and musk! Or maybe they changed the perfume. I detected this scent from a customer at work from ten feet away. I love this! But this is one of the best orange blossom perfumes, which is saying quite a lot, because it is one of my favorite notes. I found this stuff going through some old crap in a closet. Cant decide if I like this enough to buy or not. I normally love strong, spicy scents (Opium, Obsession, etc), and I ADORE amber, so based on the notes I thought I'd love it. Erba Pura wishes it could be this good. Top notes are Orange Blossom and Citruses; middle notes are Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose and Freesia; base notes are Amber, Heliotrope, Vanilla and Musk. A strong and sexy perfume, exactly what a perfume should smell like from a lingerie store. My review is for the version in the square bottleIm sorry but this is a Epic Fail from Victorias Secret!!! My husbands favorite scent on me. It is really in harmony with the perfect evening scent I love on him which is the original Escada for men. so much that i nearly scrubbed it but im glad i didnt because i really enjoyed the dry down. I ordered the new bottle version online for semi annual sale. I love it because of the amber-jasmine, because is sweet but not too sweet and because it brings back good memories of my big sister and I. More sweet then spicy. After awhile i was actually nauseated from the smell. This is something I can wear all year round; I try not to smell it too much upclose lol then Ill hate it. And it really is amazing with my body chemistry. It's more a cold weather scent. Does anyone think this smells a little different than it did in the 90's? I had this back in the day (1990-ish?) So my husband bought me a gift package of it. I lifted the lid and let the lip bottom touch my hand and then rubbed that around and that is enough. This isn't bad.. it is a little mature for me but for a VS fragrance it was a nice offering. Anything that isn't fruity floral, is old lady territory to them. Decadent, sumptuous, romantic, sensual, luxurious, eccentric A Victorian-inspired perfume that marries the Orient and the Occident. Creeds Love In White: Grain-Fed Magnolia, Opinion: We Dont Need to Worry So Much about Fragrance Reviewer Credibility, Tropical Vacations with Tommy Bahama Fragrances, First Fragrances: Dolce & Gabbana for Women (1992), Davidoff Cool Water Street Fighter Champion Summer Editions for 2021, WPC: Interview With Alexandre Illan, Perfumer of the Rammstein Line and More, Tuscany Per Uomo Aramis: Friday Dresscode Cologne, Marc Jacobs Daisy Ever So Fresh Eau de Parfum, Victoria's Secret Rapture by Victori (. But after a few minutes, I remembered why I liked it. This is quite a bold fragrance. So beautiful and romantic. My mom loves spicy/amber fragrances and this one smells very similar to one she has. I now use a knockoff oil hair perfume of this. This stopped me in my tracks! This is a nice warm earthy musk but without being overbearing or outdated. You smell so good!" One of the most enticing scents I've ever smelled! I will update after a few wears. Not bad, but not my character. A fantastic offering from Victoria's Secret! Relaunch. I really wish VS would make more frags like this one though; it's deep, rich and long lasting. I agree with Marie69.this is pretty strong and when wearing, you don't need much at all. It was also going to last me years, because the sillage and longevity were ridiculously huge. My old roommate wore it when she was in her early 20's, and I always thought it a bit heavy. I have had multiple people say how good I smell, and my sister in law said wow, are you that fabulous smell radiating in my direction! TEsting today, a vintage mini, which is enough to last a lifetime. It has great lasting power and one small spray was enough to last me for several hours and I could distinctly smell it on my wrist. If maybe wear it to a Christmas party but not everyday. I want to start by saying how much I love this perfume. I don't usually like heavy old fashioned orientals which is what I hear about this scent all the time. This is a bold, heady, in your face, sweet floral-amber fragrance. (If anyone wants to try this, happy to swap a decant for my want list. I was on my way out the door of VS when I caught Rapture's bottle out of the corner of my eye, and was drawn in. When I picked it up and felt that its golden exterior was only a flimsy plastic overlay, I was disappointed, but I still love its late-80s epic-romantic vibe and intense ambery glow. Once of my all-time fave perfumes. However, I wouldn't say that makes it inappropriate for someone in their teens, twenties, or thirties. sweet and warm i get mostly vanilla and amber which then lasts a long time. A note of advice, a little dab will do it, this can be overwhelming if oversprayed. The darker notes evaporate and all that's left is sickening sweetness. I tested this in the store and while it's got great silage (very strong, this one), there is a very powerful smell in this that is "off" to me. Just not pleasant and not sexy, IMO. In addition, I am in love the Baroque/Rococo faux bronze/brass heart bottle it just looks so special - like a real treasure! VS scents have been lighter lately and I think the heavy amber is something you would see with an older fragrance. Is deep, mysterious and sexy. Please please, add the original Victoria perfume with the blue cap, to the database!! Beautiful fragrance, awful on me. Victoria's Secret Rapture by Victori (68.59 USD), Buy it online BIG SALE on or Many items for sale on, Perfume rating3.81out of5 with656 votes. Perfume lovers: 793,115 I'm pretty sure this is Bijan in a heart shaped bottle. Perhaps I got a bad batch or my chemistry doesn't work with this but I am quite disappointed with this purchase, one of my worst blind buys for quite some time. We both loved it!! Sometimes sharp scents can feel thin, but not this one. I am thankful I have hung on to so many of my older perfumes because so many of them just are not made the same anymore. Also found the original Victoria secret one in the squatty, wide bottle with the vertical ridges along the sides, faux brass top, and cobalt blue cap. A common theme throughout my reviews - I am a snob. Why do they always discontinue the best ones???? We were friends since childhood and inseparable. Also is very close or related to Revlon's Ciara which is also great on me (but only in the winter)! It was a sultry musky "honeymoon" perfume back then (LOL). First sniffwhew!! Yet she has bijan and loves it. It's definitely for grown up ladies and something to wear on a romantic date. The ones who had been wearing the same fragrance for decades and became nose-blind to it and perpetually bathed in perfume. I love it !!! With this fragrance,I have a very tiny bottle of the original formula, and I also have the reformulated version. Girls in high school wore this. I passed out. This was another wonderful fragrance of my youth. I really wish it wasn't discontinued. I just got my bottle in the mail and I'm absolutely amazed at how beautiful this is. Sometime smell of a sweet liqueur. Girls, this IS your grandma's rose perfume. It is such a naughty and trampy fragrance that will indeed rapture people who smell it. In a way it's a huge disappointment. Is white floral soft spicy powdery with a lot of attention to heliotrope. Rapture is probably Victoria's Secret's most unique fragrance--standing out from a sea of mediocre fruity and sweet fragrances they produce today. One of my top five of all time. Powdery, and reminds me of my aunt. Rapture by Victoria's Secret was quite a surprise for me! It's not too flowery or girlie. This is ultra-feminine without being cloying. I'm really bummed out that this fragrance has been discontinued. Anyone notice this? When sniffed it comes off very sultry and a tall, expensively dressed woman with red lipstick, red nails, gold jewelry come to mind. This is my favorite perfume ever!!! If you are looking for something fruity and pink, do not stop here. Its a Wonder Sophia Grosjman (sp?) I had a boyfriend who was crazy for this scent, so I bought some. Best for fall / winter nights, spicy and warm. Back when I first purchased rapture, when I was about 20, I loved it! So gorgeous as I remembered. The most mature scent VS ever made. This is VS at its dark and vampy best. It made me feel like a grown woman, I remember the spiciness making me want to take on whatever the day had thrown at me, and to be honest maybe my body chemistry has changed because today I did smell like grandma may. I need a dupe so I dont run out of my bottle. It exudes that old world elegance that I've always wanted in a mix that works for me! I had the heart shaped years ago. For one it is NOT super heavy. ( Luvs baby soft was my first at 5yrs old.) Rapture is overwhelming, and not in a good way. I'm so glad Victoria's Secret brought this back. I have a very small bottle, but I'd wear this over most of their body sprays any day. I have been loving this perfume since it came out in 1992!!!!! Its a lot different than most watery, fruity Victoria's secret fragrances. Since this is the first perfume someone bought me in high school, it has always had a special place in my heart. I always feel more put together when I'm wearing it. The fragrance was light and fresh and smelled very clean. Obviously VS didn;'t put others out there like this, perhaps becuase the perfume was just so misunderstood. Thank God they haven't discontinued this one too. I first smelled it on my coworker back in early nineties, it was her signature scent. Ah, I remember this one well. It was so ambery, powdery, a little floral, slightly spicy. Very amber-y and powderish in a way. I still love all those scents but of the 5 this one really stood out to me. Retired scent. I wore it again yesterday and coworkers that got near me asked, "what are you wearing? Definitely not for everyone but I am one to personally lean towards ambery fragrances and orientals. I can understand how a lot of people don't like this, it is indeed a "mature" fragrance. This started off too strong with a weird almost chemical note (sorry, I'm no good at discerning notes) that made me think maybe I was crazy for thinking I liked this at the store. I love my sister, and I love remembering those times when we were together, oh melancholy. I just tried it in the store today, and it is way sweeter than I remember it. Rapture is sharp, but also hugely bold, in the way of many classic vintage perfumes from the 7595 era. I like the warmth and ambery glow but its a bit on the woody side for my taste. Definitely would wear this on a date. At least, long enough for me to buy multiple bottles that I promise Ill savor and save for only special occasions. I loveee it!!! In a matter of another 15 minutes it gets a bit similar to other old-school scents, it's even reminiscent to Obsession for men as there is a bit of citrus and florals appearing - and at this point I'm seeing the similarity to Este Lauder Spellbound! I am sitting on the fence with this one. Online right now: 2,449, Fragrantica in your language: I would never have tried Rapture if a dear Fragrantican had not sent me a mini splash in a care package. They're marketing to the teens and early 20's, when they used to have an edge and market towards women. Decent sillage and longevity. Old Hollywood sexy!. This scent literally made me want to puke! I picked up a mist during the SAS as I really dont like the new bottle design of the cologne, I wish I could track down an older bottle just for the gaudy design. I bought this perfume on ebay and it smells just as heavenly as the first time I put my nose to it. It was so classy, and I hear it's long since been discontinued. The trick with this one, this cognac coloured little lovely, is to wear such a tiny teeny amount, it is not one drop. This scent is a warm almost honeyed amber slight rose soooo warm it makes the cold a snug place. I don't get sexy, any musky notes and especially absolutely no spicy notes whatsoever just a lingering soapy overpowering jasmine. This is a sweet, heavy and intense cloud that will surround you if you over-spray. I am going to need some time with this one. Within 15 minutes I found myself trying to scrub it off, to no avail. This is extremely strong so just mind that. It smells IDENTICAL, and has almost every note! Love it !!!! If you're all about a "sexy" or "hot" image, I wouldn't wear this, but if you're going for a more classic vibe, this is perfect. I would buy this just because of that. performance is great. Smells like a bouquet after having been left out to bake in the sun all day. At first, I thought "Is this Estee Lauder Beautiful in a very weird bottle?" And yet. Oh, ravishing Rapture: how I relish you! I can't tell you how much this perfume affects me. I have the original mist bottle, 3/4 full. I tried this one back when it first came out. Was my signature for 20+ years. Very similar to bijan and samsara though bijan is more on the honey and balsamic side and samsara depends more on woods. Nope, not at all. I would put it in the same category as Bijan(which is spicier) or Tresor(which is more floral). this maybe was sexy before 20 years ! Thats when Victorias Secret was ONLY for adult women looking for true sexiness. Rapture is the most mature scent I've smelled from Victoria's Secret. (It was the mini bottle and not labeled.) a very unusual amber scent. If you like the Orientals please try this one! and it was like a cross between Rafinee and Bijan but way lighter and more honey. It just made me realize again how unfortunate it is when a fragrance works so well on so many people, it becomes less valued in our society and the company ends up discontinuing something that could have and should have been a classic. It is definitely not for the office, it is spicy, warm, really sexy but I'm older now and probably never would have picked this when I was younger. This smells nothing like the original version. The dry part is warm with amber and musk. I'm really picky about what aroma I give off - not snobby, mind you, just irritatingly fickle. I don't detect any citruses, maybe because of the heliotrope base that dominates it. I loved it so much; it was sexy and sophisticated to me. Love, love, LOVE this one! there was always something magical about Rapture. A dupe of Christian La Croix's C'est La Vie mixed with Bijan. A well made perfume, im surprised it's discontinued. My husband love this on me. Ill have to keep this on my collection now. I still love it, it's hard to find a fragrance like this these days. unfortunately my husband hates it :(, lasting power is great on metoo bad I can't wear it around him Rapture is an intoxicating, unique and complex fragrance; evoking many different moods depending on the weather, your skin chemistry, or your attire. The best VS has to offer IMO and Probably my very favorite orange blossom scent. You can still buy this perfume on websites like Fragrance X and ebay still sells the vintage originals. It was gorgeous to me. No, its not an "old lady" scent, its a scent for confident sexy woman. Yes, it does have a gourmand feel with the heliotrope. Better suited for night and colder weather(but I wear it whenever I'm feeling naughty.). And that is ok. A classic with excelling staying power. Its warmth and rosy 'haute-couture' quality astounded me afresh. It was one of my favorite fragrances. I just got a flask of the Rapture from the relaunch, the one in the square/rectangular bottle, not the heart shaped one, and I don't think it is for me. We are now the morrow and I can still smell it very well, that delightful drydown that reminds me so of Jean Paul Gauthier Classique which I wore since I was 16! I love the bottle, but the initial spray is strong, old-school, a bit on the chemical-granny type thing, but as it stats to dry down it gets tamed and you start getting amber. Damn if it didn't turn on me and bite me! I chose this while out with my mom and she bought me the set. If I am remembering the early 90s correctly, I think this was the first fragrance Victoria's Secret ever put out and boy did it hit out of the ballpark that holiday season! This is one of my very first fragrance loves, sweet and intoxicating, it smells like an opium dream. When people say "it smells old", what they're saying is they're thinking "people of a more mature age". I will wear this for my new man. Yes, the bottle is a little cheezy, but the scent it really sexy and warm. Warm and soft, yet quite strong and prominent with good staying power. Starts off pretty cloying, but smells so wonderful when it settles down on the skin :). Love my Bijan way better! Rapture by Victoria's Secret is a Amber Spicy fragrance for women. It is a strong fragrance, and kind of screams "I am sexy, come to me!!" Its bold and it smells of the time it was released but I think its really really good. This is a very rich perfume that is not for the faint of heart. This was my very first perfume that I chose when I was a little girl. I wish they would bring this back. So I'm not surprised that Rapture isn't popular anymore. No thanks. It was romantic and had character, but I think they will never create it like it once was due to the IFRA or just VS wanting to remain so mainstream. Thank you Victoria Secret! My mom used to wear this when I was younger, and I remember stealing it from her to wear itso maybe I'm biased toward it, but I think it smells so warm and nice"mature", of course, but people always tell me that I'm very mature for my age, so maybe I just have "mature" tastes. This past Christmas 2011, I went to VS to buy this for my mother (although we both love it) and for some reason it smelt different. i used to wear this but now it gives me a headache. To me it has potent projection but there's something that reminds me of a heavy floriental fragrance mixed with ash tray. The amber is very prominent and is so warm and sensual. I can see how people say its's "mature" and it is very spicy and strong, so it's great for evenings out. They always discontinue the best. Amber Romance is the closest fume victoria's secret still carries. I don't suggest blind-buying, or even buying this. Long lasting, and great silage. I will probably get a lot of use out of it this winter. Too much could be offensive or headache inducing. Thank goodness my birthday is coming up next week. Love! With this much it is lovely, deep and soft and bourbon rich. I like this a lot! This cologne is strong, with considerable silage and great staying power (on my skin, it stays all day long). I have been wearing this intoxicating scent for about 7 years and I tell u nothing but sexy describes this. This is hardly recognizable as a VS scent - it's that different from their current offerings. People have described this as deep, warm, ambery, woody, floral, like velvet, and animalic, sensual, spicy. If you could put the glamour of the 90's into a bottle, this would be it. I haven't smelled it in years. I smell at first the citrus orange blossom very fresh and pretty but then it turns into a big floral with jasmine rose heliotrope and freesia. Rich, sensual, long-lasting. If you do not own this GRAB IT WHILE YOU STILL CAN FOR THE LOW! is 99% fruity florals. One spray gives me a thick, cloying, powdery assault of an old-school perfume that does not seem like a Victorias Secret scent one would expect. I do love an oriental but I am not getting much from this. Thankfully the citrus give the heavy opening a bit lightness (a teeny tiny bit). I remember it being more musky and powdery Any opinions? It is strong and sweet, good for winter & evenings out. Smell sexy and good for wearing when you want to dress up in beautiful dress and go to dinner with husband. LOL Honeslty though, I was a teen in the 90's when this frag came out and this scent actually used to repulse me, so that's why I always steered clear of it. Love it!! I hate to say it, but it has the "grandma" factor. My only complaints are that I like my perfumes to be more pungent, and the amber is not as pronounced as I prefer, but then again it is relatively inexpensive. This is so incredibly potent and over the top as to be completely annoying. Literally, the only perfume I owned during that time. I haven't owned or smelled this in a long time so I can't say if it's been reformulated, but it still smells great to me. This is one of my top favorite scents of all time. I knew it was cheap, especially on the dry down (in contrast to Raffinee, which got more intense with time, this fainted), but it was different than a lot of the fruity lilac crap that was being pushed in retail stores of the time. I love the scent. I also thought it seemed more appropriate for an older woman. Perfumes: 73,913 I love the fact that it doesn't fit in with the other perfumes out today, so when I wear it I feel like I stand out a bit amongst my other 20-something peers. My husband bought this for me about 21 years ago, along with the body lotion. well i love this one but it smell like red door but elizabeth arden. but i dont like red door rapture is soooo sweet and when you wear it every ones knows you are coming i think it goes well with a red dress, for cold days :P. Love it! Does that make sense? Blew me away! Yummy amber oriental beautiful fume. Not surprising, since they're owned by the same company. This is supposed to have notes of citrus, orange blossom, freesia, jasmine, rose, amber, musk vanilla and heliotrope. Powerhouse sillage and amazing staying power,it is a COLOGNE that wears better and lasts longer than some EDPs. scents. Omg ! I bought it mainly for the nostalgia Unisex/femme fragrance. A quick follow up to my review, if you like this scent get the matching body wash and pure silk lotion! Favourites go toooo fast though. I have been wearing it for 20 years (since I was 22, so I don't think it is just for old ladies.) Then I got the last round that was still in the heart bottle (2013?). Wishing for it for christmas too. Sorry its discontinued along with my other VS favorite Heavenly. What a shame! I caught this scent on a co-worker who was walking past my desk. I smelled this in the store the other day and liked it very much! I had this in 1993-94. Wearing this makes me want to break out the hot rollers and maroon lipstick of 1994. There is no rose mentioned among the notes, but for me Rapture is a sweet smell of rose. Rapture is quite strong and may suite better at evening than work but I find myself not being able to let it be. I might try to buy a bottle before it gets ridiculously expensive. Rapture is one of the few fragrances in my collection that I have a love hate relationship with. Spicy and exotic scent, can't go wrong with that! Heavy amber and spice. It has a dark and sexy scent, like nothing else I have ever worn. I'm STILL bitter about THAT discontinuation, by the way. suitable for winter and fall. It's big, spicy, powdery, Amber with an amazing throw. it's the interpritation of sexy from a retro era. Some days Rapture smells "old lady", "dirty slut" or simply repulsive, on other days, I find the dry down really clean, almost close to the skin. I have an original heart shaped bottle, and the bottle fits the scent. Just wade through the current mobs and scent assault when you get to the store and ignore the other headache inducing smells and vacant stares from the 20-something salesgirls and go straight to Rapture. It seems like they discontinue as much as Bath and Body Works. This lasts forever on me, which is good because I love it! So I found Bijan n it is much better on me but then I got this as a sample n i must say this meshes perfectly w my skin! I really do miss VS fragrances that they used to produce back in the day-now, all they have for the most part is weak, fruity water that is getting weaker every year. I think they changed the formula. Such a wonderful scent, its nice when you are going out at night, its not to be used at day time or work because it's a bit strong. I wore this today, and my six-year-old who shouldn't know anything about how old women smell said I smelled like grandma may, who is 90 years old. It definitely smells "dated" as it isn't on trend with the fragrances of now. Rapture is a heavy, syrupy, resinous floral. Its very warm and mostly ruled by sandalwood, light citrus and amber but not at all like Revlon Fire & Ice .Not too sweet, but not bitter or sour. I've always wanted to be the type of ultra elegant woman that could pull off Ch 5 but it's never been good w my chemistry. I like ambery, spicy fragrances sometimes, but only when they linger closer to the skin. This *Is* Your Mother's Victoria's Secret (or at least your older sister's). This perfume is a mature, cozy, warm, golden, rich, luxurious, floral amber. (not all of them) Child notes: vanilla, citrus, jasmine, rose and wood base notes! My friend repeatedly told me how delicious I smelled : Like a freshly baked cinamon bun he said. Definitely the most intoxicating of the VS scents. Easily overpower. My stepmom used to wear that and so this brings a nostalgia with it, reminds me of going out for nice dinners, to theaters, on vacations. I honestly couldnt love this more. is not behind this delish frag. I love the heart shaped bottle. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. I was a little worried at first, that this would be too strong for me or too "old", but it's actually not that bad, I quite like it. The orange blossom and amber stand out to me. I love this one! It suffocates me, and makes me think back to those old women in church. I have the entire fragrance set of Rapture (the box which comes with the lotion, shower cream, cologne and edp), but I am scared to layer this fragrance since the Cologne alone is STRONG. She had this wonderful light musk aroma surrounding her and I could smell this when she would move around. Evidently it was something my mother had packed away because it was too strong for her. The good news is right now VS is selling it for 75% off. It's highly sought after and prized among collectors. The atomizer is one that you can open and refill with whatever you wanted. My husband hated it and thought it smelled like a little old lady. So sad about it, too. Rapture was launched in 1992. But I think the real interpritation of this scent is, it's not suppost to be of a mature age, but of a mature time. I don't think it smells that much like BIJAN - I think it smells much closer to AMBER ROMANCE it just has that same unmistakable cosy, creamy, comforting, deep amber and fancy lace, romantic, maternal hug kind of aura, with a touch of sweetness. I ended up covering it with another perfume to dampen the smell a bit. There is none of the fruit cocktail notes that are in almost all of their other fragrances. It's very old fashioned and on the Oriental side. People often mistake this for Organza, Indcence , Casmir which I find interesting. Very feminine, very intense, spicy and vanillic. i wish i could wear this again! I have been wanting to try this for years and finally got myself a bottle (this is super hard to obtain in my country) since it is so often compared to my most favourite scents - Escada Margaretha Ley and Spellbound, I am also a fan of Bijan but it is a tad too soapy/pollen like yellow floral and I can't wear it - this is sadly the same case this is super soapy, heavy on jasmine and aldehydes (smells like a cross between No5 and Arpege) and it takes about 2 hours for it to settle down into a heady cloying headache inducing, soapy iritating aroma of Imperial Leather soap.
